Aromatherapy, the use of essential oils, is an art and science of extracting a plants volatile oils bringing forth its aromatic essences to help balance and promote the health of body, mind, spirit and emotions; helping to assist in enhancing an individual’s innate healing process. When used correctly, the essential oils may provide psychological and physical well-being. Over 90 essential oils are extracted with different methods used depending on the plant. The essential oils can be used in various ways, from massage, bath, diffuser to direct inhalation. The scent effects the olfactory system signaling the limbic system to the brain.
Before/After Aromatherapy Session, once the client has completed the assessment form provided (this can be done prior to consultation), the client meets with aromatherapist for a consultation. Allow 30 minutes for the first consultation. Following the consultation, a personal essential oil blend will be provided by the aromatherapist. The blend might be in form of inhaler, balms, massage/batch oils, hydrosol, etc. A personal blend will be provided a week after initial consultation, this can be picked up after completion or mailed. Phone or email follow-up is recommended. The initial essential oil blend is included in the price of the first consultation. Prices for refills will vary based on each individual blend.
Safety advice Essential oils are highly concentrated; the potency can be toxic if used incorrectly. Care and use of essential oils is very important. The list provided below addresses basic information, this list is not a complete safety reference. If more information is needed, please contact a qualified local aromatherapist. · Keep away from heat, essential oils are flammable liquids. Store essential oils in a cool dry place. · Keep out of the reach of children. Consult an aromatherapist prior to using essential oils on babies or children. · Consult an aromatherapist prior to using if pregnant. · Consult your doctor if you have a medical condition and/or are taking any medication or type of medical treatment to make certain it is safe to use essential oils together with any prescribed treatment. · Avoid contact with the mouth area and eyes, do not take internally. · Do not apply essential oils undiluted to the skin, this can cause irritation (some exceptions to this rule include Lavender). · If you have sensitive skin, performing a small patch test prior to using an essential oil blend is recommended. · Phototoxic essential oils should not be applied to the skin before direct exposure to sunlight, this may cause skin sensitization and/or skin discoloration in bright sunlight.
